Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Last updated: August 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Ethiopian Bible Guide ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website, mobile app, and study platform (the "Service").

We are committed to being transparent about your data and to giving you control over it. This policy describes your rights and choices.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Your name, email address, and password when you create an account; your study track selection and notification preferences; and any content you post to forums, discussion boards, voice notes, and verse highlights.

Payment information: When you subscribe, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles that securely. We retain your email and subscription status to manage your account.

Usage data: We automatically collect information about how you use the Service, such as which study weeks you've completed, pages visited, and device/browser information. This helps us improve the Service.

Communications: If you contact us or sign up for our beta waitlist, we keep the email and information you provide to respond and notify you.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and your study experience.
  • Authenticate your account and manage your subscription.
  • Send you weekly study reminders and community notifications (only if you opt in; you can opt out anytime from your account settings).
  • Respond to your questions, support requests, and feedback.
  • Monitor for abuse and enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
  • Analyze usage trends to improve our curriculum and features.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Third parties that help us operate the Service — such as Stripe (payments) and our hosting platform — under contractual obligations to protect your data.
  • Community features: Your display name and the content you post to forums and discussions are visible to other users. Your email is not shown publicly.
  • Legal compliance: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will notify you before your information is transferred under different terms.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your study progress. We may use analytics tools to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may limit some features.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal data and account.
  • Opt out of marketing and reminder emails (from your account settings or via the unsubscribe link in any email).
  • Restrict or object to certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and secure data storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain it.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or a notice within the Service. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
