1. Our Shared Purpose
Ethiopian Bible Guide is a community of people studying Scripture together through the world's oldest continuous Christian tradition. Our forums and discussion boards exist for respectful, sincere engagement with the Bible and with one another.
By participating in our community, you agree to these guidelines. They help keep our space welcoming, safe, and focused on meaningful study.
2. Our Core Principles
- Be respectful. Treat every member with kindness and dignity, even when you disagree. We come from many backgrounds and traditions.
- Be sincere. Share genuine reflections and questions. This is a study community, not a place for performance or self-promotion.
- Be humble. None of us has all the answers. Approach Scripture and each other with curiosity and a willingness to learn.
- Be encouraging. Uplift others in their study journey. A kind word or thoughtful question can make a real difference.
3. A Community for Everyone
We welcome people of all faiths, denominations, races, ethnicities, genders, and levels of biblical knowledge — from curious beginners to seasoned scholars. Ethiopian Christianity has a rich and ancient heritage, and we are honored to share it broadly.
Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on identity has no place here.
4. What Is Not Allowed
The following are not permitted and may result in content removal, hiding, or account suspension:
- Hate speech, personal attacks, or harassment of any kind.
- Disrespectful or mocking language about any faith, denomination, or tradition.
- Spam, advertising, or unsolicited promotion of products or services.
- Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Sharing personal or contact information of others without consent.
- Deliberately spreading misinformation or conspiracy theories.
- Impersonating other members or claiming false credentials.
5. Healthy Discussion
Theological disagreement is natural and welcome — it is part of studying Scripture deeply. When you disagree:
- Address the idea, not the person.
- Ask questions before assuming intent.
- Cite Scripture or sources when making a claim.
- Accept that some questions have been debated for centuries and may not have a single "right" answer.
6. Reporting Content
If you see content that violates these guidelines, please use the "Report" button on the post or comment. Our administrators review reports and may hide or remove content that violates these guidelines.
Posts or comments that receive multiple reports are flagged for priority review. You can report anonymously — your identity is not shared with the author.
7. Consequences
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may:
- Remove or hide the offending content.
- Send a warning to the member.
- Temporarily restrict posting privileges.
- Permanently suspend the account for serious or repeated violations.
We aim to be fair and restorative. Where possible, we will explain the action taken and what is needed to return to good standing.
8. Protecting Each Other's Privacy
Do not share another member's personal information (real name, email, location) without their consent. If you wish to connect with someone outside the platform, ask them privately first and respect their choice.
9. Questions or Concerns
If you have questions about these guidelines or encounter a situation you are unsure how to handle, please contact us. Our team is here to help.
